teachers’ salaries soon to be revalued

Two teachers: one in middle school and the other in high school. For each at the start of the school year, a salary increase. After more than 20 years of career and thousands of corrected copies to her credit, Hélène Clément teaches history and geography. “Without a bonus, net, I am at 2,500 euros after 25 years of teaching”, she says. She has just learned that she will be increased by 100 euros per month. “Personally, I think we could have achieved a bigger increase”she believes.

The unions consider the progress insufficient

Like her, all teachers will benefit from a revaluation at the start of the school year, of 100 euros net on average for teachers at the end of their career, 200 euros on average for those who have less than 12 years of seniority and 230 euros for beginners. No teacher should be paid less than 2,000 euros net per month, a step forward that the unions consider insufficient. They demanded an increase of 300 euros per month. On a voluntary basis, teachers will be able to benefit from other increases if they accept overtime.
