Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of a game last January and can now return to football.

This was stated by the organization’s chief executive, Brandon Beane, on Tuesday.
“He has seen three specialists recently and they are all in agreement. […] He got the green light to fully resume his football activities, like any other of our players who would return after suffering an injury, ”said the DG at a press conference.
“He’s in great spirits and wants to make a comeback,” Beane continued.
Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after contact with wide receiver Tee Higgins during the first quarter of the Jan. 2 game against the Bengals. Resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the field and the Bills player was then transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
After several days of hospitalization there, he was transferred to a hospital in Buffalo and later discharged.
“This event changed my life, but it’s not the end of my story,” Hamlin said. I’m here to tell you that I have every intention of returning to the NFL.”
“My heart is still in love with my sport,” added the 25-year-old.
In 2022, Hamlin was playing his second NFL campaign. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 amateur auction, the safety totaled 91 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games last season.
