(Montreal) The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is investigating two arson attacks that occurred a few hours apart on Sunday morning.
The first incident targeted a truck tractor business in the municipality of Dorval, in the west of the island of Montreal.
It was a call to 911, around 1:30 a.m., which alerted the emergency services to the flames seen in the backyard of the business located on André Avenue, near Hymus Boulevard.
“When the police arrived on the spot, the firefighters were already busy trying to control the flames. About ten road tractors were affected and are considered a total loss,” said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM.
No one was injured, but the investigation was transferred to the SPVM Arson Unit.
“It was also mentioned to 911 that suspects were observed shortly before the fire started,” said Cst. Dubuc.
No one has been arrested.
Then, around 4 a.m., another call from a citizen to 911 reported an explosion followed by a fire in the entrance of a residence on rue Antoine-Faucon, near rue Sheinfeld, this time near the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, still in the west of the island.
“When the police arrived, the firefighters were already there. A can of gasoline was found near a car,” said the SPVM spokesperson.
“There are no injuries in this event and no suspects. The damage to the vehicle is significant,” said Mr.me Dubuc.
The investigation was also entrusted to investigators from the SPVM Arson Unit.
