(Montreal) Montreal cyclists and dog owners can now take the metro more easily after the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced its decision to extend the time slots where bicycles and doggies are accepted in the cars.
Since Saturday, they can take the métro at any time, except during rush hours, that is, from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
During the summer holidays, from May 20 to August 20, they can board the wagons at any time, unless there is not a major event that day that clogs up public transport. .
Bicycles are now accepted in all wagons, not just the first one, with a maximum of two per wagon.
Dogs must still be leashed and muzzled.
These changes are part of a pilot project to offer greater flexibility to cyclists. A previous pilot project, this one concerning dogs, has also been extended.
“This pilot project is rooted in a desire to reduce the obstacles to the use of public transit, to encourage sustainable and integrated mobility and to ensure harmonious cohabitation between bicycles, people in wheelchairs and dogs in métro,” said Éric Alan Caldwell, Chairman of the STM’s Board of Directors.
