A bush fire required the intervention of the authorities of the Mohawk community of Kahnawake on Sunday afternoon.
A large plume of smoke was visible from across the river in Montreal.
On its social networks, the Peacekeepers indicated that they had intervened not far from Route 138, with the fire restraint of the community, in order to control a “large” bush fire.
This would have extended into a wooded area behind the Goodlef garage, in an area bounded by Route 207.
According to a spokesperson for the authorities quoted by the CTV News network, it is likely that the heat of the last few days was a factor that led to this fire.
Around 4:30 p.m., community authorities said the fire was under control.
