A fire broke out in Cerbère, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, on the morning of Sunday April 16. Ten hectares have already burned. Hundreds of firefighters are on the scene.

Above a massif in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the cloud of smoke continues to grow, on very dry soil, in an area composed of shrubs and scrubland. The fire progresses very quickly. More than a hundred hectares were burned in a single morning, Sunday April 16. The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. in the town of Cerbère (Pyrénées-Orientales), the last before Spain.

The wind, the tramontana, blows up to 140 km / h, enough to further accelerate the spread of the flames. Five people were evacuated. At the end of the morning, the firefighters took off four water bomber planes, whose tank is larger than that of the Canadair, a sign that the fire is considered dangerous by the authorities. The Spanish firefighters, called in as reinforcements, attacked the fire from the south.
