Accused of racist comments since Tuesday, the Paris Saint-Germain coach spoke for the first time during a press conference on Friday at 1 p.m. on the eve of the clash between his club and Lens on Saturday.
The appointment had been made since the beginning of the week. As tradition dictates, Christophe Galtier, the PSG coach, came to the microphones on Friday April 14 at 1 p.m., on the eve of the Ligue 1 match between his team, leader of the championship, and Lens, his runner-up. But non-sporting news could take precedence in the field.
Indeed, since Tuesday evening, an email dating from August 2021, when he was the coach of Nice, and emanating from his sports director at the time, Julien Fournier, implicates him for racist remarks. The technician disputed “with the greatest firmness” these accusations through his lawyer, and will file three defamation complaints against two journalists and his former sports director, with whom he was in conflict. If several coaches and former players he managed were publicly surprised by these accusations, this is the first time that Christophe Galtier has spoken publicly on this affair.
