“It seemed important to us to now offer a view of the world” during prime-time access

While France 3 will remove its 19/20 next year, and talk shows and entertainment such as Don’t forget the lyrics or Touche pas à mon poste attract the public before 8 p.m., Arte is choosing to create its own alternative offer. No more documentaries of 52 minutes on the world broadcast at 6:50 p.m., the channel now opens its 19/21 with a 30-minute documentary anchored on social issues in Europe, such as an investigation into climate activists on Wednesday evening.

At 7:30 p.m., the channel will now program the program “Le sous des images” which was first launched on the arte.tv platform last fall. The channel does not set an audience target. To date, the average age of viewers is 62 years old, that of users of the platform 51 years old and those of users of social networks such as the Youtube channel of arte are under 30 years old. Three editorial proposals “like a musical chord” according to Bruno Patino, editorial director of Arte: “What works on the channel are the usual meetings, on the arte.tv platform series and films, and on social networks documentaries”.
