A women’s hockey game between Romania and Bulgaria went completely out of hand, with officials visibly having the short end in giving a staggering total of 554 penalty minutes on Sunday.

It all happened during a match for fourth place in Group A of the IIHF World Championship Division III. In a one-sided duel, Romania won 10-2 with 72 shots on goal.
The Bulgarians lost patience quite quickly, and it was in the very last seconds that the referees also lost control.
Three Bulgarian players rushed an opponent in a corner of the rink and the benches emptied. The majority of the athletes were involved in the fight, but all the protagonists were separated in about a minute.
Thus, the officials distributed 25 penalty minutes to 19 players. The Romanian team also received an extra 20 minutes for misbehaving towards the referees. Result of the races: 265 minutes in jail for the Romanians and 289 for the Bulgarians.
On the score sheet, Ana Voicu stood out with five goals and only four penalty minutes…
