The vast majority of homes still without power were on the island of Montreal, with some 29,650 customers called to manage without power in the early afternoon.

The major outages, affecting hundreds of customers, were mostly listed in the west of the island, while many smaller outages were spread across central districts.

Outside Montreal, there were still more than 6,000 subscribers without electricity throughout the Outaouais and just over 5,500 customers in the dark in Montérégie, mainly concentrated in the west of the region towards Vaudreuil-Dorion and neighboring municipalities. .

On the Laval side, around 3,000 households were still in the dark, a number that drops to just over 100 in the Laurentians and Lanaudière combined.

Hydro-Quebec hopes to have reconnected 95% of the 1.1 million families without electricity at the height of the storm by Sunday evening. The recovery should, with the exception of a few particularly complex failures, be completed by Monday evening.

Around 1,500 linemen were deployed to get the network back on its feet. “The remaining outages affect a smaller number of customers, which explains why the progression may seem less rapid,” warned Hydro-Québec.

“We are aware that the situation is difficult and that several have now been out of order for a long time. Rest assured that we are doing everything we can to restore service as soon as possible,” added the state corporation, thanking the people affected for their patience.
