Gleb Karakulov was an officer in the Kremlin for more than 10 years. After choosing exile, he broke his silence and agreed to respond to Russian opposition media.

He spent 13 years behind the scenes of the Kremlin, close to Vladimir Putin. A former member of the FSO, the Federal Protection Service, Captain Karakulov was responsible for securing communications. “I consider this man a war criminal“, he says today. On October 14, 2022, he was accompanying Vladimir Putin to Astana, Kazakhstan. It was there that he decided to flee with his family, and fly to Turkey.

Between loneliness and paranoia

In safety, he agreed to tell the daily life of the Russian president, which according to him oscillates between loneliness and paranoia. “He spends most of his time in his residences, which some media aptly call his bunkers. He has a pathological fear for his life“, confides Gleb Karakulov, who also says the president “surrounded by a sanitary bubble“and missing”information on the internet“. For his communications, the Russian president would use a jamming system. Vladimir Putin would also hide his whereabouts when he is filmed. On the other hand, the officer affirms that the health of the leader remains good, contrary to rumors. The interview, carried out in December by an opposition media, was broadcast only during the week.Considered a traitor in his country, the former officer now lives abroad, under high protection.
