Soccer: CF Montreal still mistreated

One humiliation does not wait for the other for CF Montreal. The Bleu-Blanc-Noir lost 4-0 to the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gilette Stadium.

So, apart from their dramatic 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Union, Hernan Losada’s troops have been shut out in each of their other five games.

Despite some adjustments after the thaw inflicted on him by the Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday, the Montreal team was dominated by the “Revs”.

Dylan Borrero was the first to shake the CFMTL ropes in the 21st minute. At the edge of the penalty area, he curled a shot into the top corner which gave Jonathan Sirois no chance.

Just before the end of the first half, Gabriele Corbo offered a ‘penalty’ to the hosts by hooking the ball from his hand. Spanish midfielder Carles Gil did not miss his chance, and the Montrealers retreated to the locker room looking down.

Striker Bobby Wood delivered the killing blow to the visitors in the 50th minute. The Real Salt Lake alum mocked Kamal Miller’s defensive coverage and then found the back of the net as he kicked the ball low to the ground.

Giacorno Vrioni completed the scoring late in the game.

After six games this season, CF Montreal has only three small points in the standings. He will try to improve his situation next Saturday, when he receives a visit from DC United at Stade Saputo.
