A building exploded in Sanary-sur-mer (Var) on the night of Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 December. Firefighters are busy inspecting the rubble while the investigation must identify the causes of the explosion.
During the night of Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 December, an explosion took place in a building in Sanary-sur-Mer (Var). In the evening of Tuesday, in the light of the projectors, the firefighters continue to inspect the rubble of the building. An elderly lady and her son are still missing. Three injured residents have already been evacuated. The body of a man in his thirties was found, his partner and their baby were miraculously pulled out of the rubble by the emergency services.
Investigators are now trying to understand the causes of the explosion of this three-story building. A few days earlier, residents explained that they had smelled a strong smell of gas in the neighborhood, but according to GRDF, the installations were checked in October. The building also did not show any signs of dilapidation according to the mayor of the town, Daniele Alsters, who assures us that it was “in good condition”. It is up to the scientific police to reveal the causes of the explosion.
