The co-founder of Mediapart takes the director Maïwenn Le Besco to court. Indeed, the journalist filed a complaint against the ex-girlfriend of Luc Besson in March 2023 according to The Parisian. “The complaint for violence, which did not result in incapacity for work, was transmitted to the officer of the public prosecutor’s office, the competent court to deal with the fines”add our colleagues according to a second source close to the file.
In the complaint filed, Edwy Plenel indicates that he was dining in a restaurant in the 12th arrondissement of Paris on February 22, 2023 when a “woman, previously seated, alone, at another table […] appeared and in a very short time grabbed the latter violently by the hair, throwing his head back and sketching a spit on his face”. It would then be the restaurant staff who managed to identify “the assailant”.

Edwy Plenel attacked by Maïwenn?
Maïwenn Le Besco, according to the staff, would then be “rushed out of the restaurant without anyone being able to intervene given the speed of the action”. For The Parisian, no words and no insults were said during the attack. However, still according to our colleagues, this “attack” would have left the co-founder of Mediapart“very traumatized by hate” manifested. The journalist’s lawyer, Me Pierre-Emmanuel Blard, for his part, declared: “The act is unique but is no less violent, and in a certain way traumatic even in the absence of physical damage. Even for this kind of act, there can be no impunity”.
If we still have to wait for the final results of the investigation, Edwy Plenel thinks he knows the reasons for the attack. According to the deductions of the latter in his complaint, Maïwenn Le Besco could have attacked him because, in particular, of the articles published by Mediapart on suspicion of rape targeting Luc Besson. The director and ex-companion of the 46-year-old artist has indeed been accused of rape by actress Sand Van Roy as recalled The Parisianbefore benefiting from a dismissal on appeal in 2022.
