Calls to 911 alerted the authorities around 4:20 a.m. to the start of a fire in a bar on Guy Street, near René-Lévesque Boulevard.

When the police arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were already in the process of bringing the fire under control.

An incendiary object was found inside the business, said SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque.

Investigators from the SPVM arson department had to go to the site to analyze the scene protected by a security perimeter.

The damage caused to the establishment is significant, but no one was injured, according to the SPVM, which has not announced any arrests for the moment.
