The Islanders finally taste a victory
Captain Anders Lee threaded the needle twice and the New York Islanders finally got back on their way to victory, beating the Ottawa Senators 5-3 on Tuesday night.
Lee scored his second goal of the game just 27 seconds after Oliver Wahlstrom gave the Islanders a 2-1 lead in the second period.
Kieffer Bellows and Jean-Gabriel Pageau found the back of the net in the third period and the New York side ended an 11-game losing streak. She still got at least one point in a fourth game in a row (1-0-3).
Ilya Sorokin fended off 30 of 33 pucks aimed at him, helping the Islanders to their first win since Nov. 6. They have scored more than three goals for the first time since November 4.
Power-play Josh Norris, Nick Holden with his first goal of the season, and shorthanded Alex Formenton replied for the Ottawa team.
Filip Gustavsson allowed five goals on 27 shots in front of the Senators, who had won their last three outings.
