“I do think that this government deserves to be muscular to attack a new episode”acknowledged Tuesday, April 4 on franceinfo François Patriat, senator from Côte-d’Or and president of the Renaissance group in the Senate. “Now, I trust Élisabeth Borne, who has shown, on all the texts she has led, a real will. I support her, she is doing her role as Prime Minister”however added the senator, who pleads to turn the page on the pension reform episode. “Let’s see what the Constitutional Council is going to say”which is due to deliver its opinion on the text on Friday 14 April, “and then, pursue the will to reform”. “As long as we can find majorities in the National Assembly to vote on texts, we can move forward”wanted to reassure the president of the Renaissance group in the Senate.

The senator also reacted to new revelations made on Tuesday by Radio France’s investigation cell in the McKinsey case, while justice is already investigating his role in Emmanuel Macron’s 2017 campaign. “On this subject of consulting firms, the Head of State has explained himself on several occasions”recalls François Patriat, adding that he did not want “interfering with an ongoing investigation”. He also wants to point out that the Senate recently voted “a bill which aims to control and regulate more strictly the use of consulting firms. We are clear on the subject”.
