The roll of the dice: Black Lake
Premiering on Club illico since February 2022, this supernatural crime thriller from authors Martin Girard (Nitro Rush, The game) and Charles Dionne (Alerts, Until the decline) lands on ADDIK. Created by Frédérik d’Amours (director of the films On your marks…party!) and divided into eight episodes, it recounts the journey of Valérie Boivin (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin), a police officer from Montreal who chooses to settle for the summer in a small village in the Laurentians called Lac-Noir with her teenage son (Anthony Terrien) to support the local police chief (Stéphane Demers), whose former partner has mysteriously disappeared without a trace. The cast also includes Normand D’Amour, Laurie Babin, Andreas Apergis and Louise Cardinal.
ADDIK, Monday at 9 p.m.
The surprise : The Night Agent
When it hits the target, this 10-episode action thriller is reminiscent Bodyguard, this 2018 British miniseries starring Richard Madden. (Although we could also have talked about the 1992 film with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner… without the ballads.) More or less believable, the scenario inspired by Matthew Quirk’s novel is nevertheless effective: we follow a junior FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) plunged into the heart of a dangerous plot, which must protect a young woman (Luciane Buchanan) from the people who murdered her aunt and uncle. Released on March 23, the first season has been so successful that a sequel has already been announced for 2024.
