Preferably a German

I want to change vehicle and I’m hesitating between a BMW X4, a Mercedes GLC coupé and an Audi Q5. I am looking for a good vehicle that is fun to drive with an adequate and comfortable level of power.

Daniel L.

Three vehicles with different characteristics. The simple answer is the Audi Q5, which probably represents the most homogeneous choice taking into account your criteria. The BMW will prove to be more dynamic to drive and the Mercedes, more comfortable.

A decision to make

Honda Pilot

My lease term on a 2019 Volvo XC 90 will end in October 2023. I haven’t experienced any mechanical issues and the mileage is low. The residual amount to be paid will be $37,000. I am considering buying it since it serves the family well and meets our needs. Is this a good decision? Is it better to buy an extended warranty considering the high cost of such a product?

Anne C.

If this vehicle still meets your needs and your financial capacity, why not? On the other hand, an extended warranty is necessary, but this is costly. From then on, you will end up with a used vehicle that will cost you nearly $50,000 (purchase, extended warranty and taxes). Today, there are several new vehicles on the market with features similar to your Volvo. These may not have the prestige associated with the Sino-Swedish brand, but will no doubt serve your family’s needs just as well. We suggest you take a look at the Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-90, or even the future Toyota Grand Highlander.

Know how to moderate your transport

Chevy Volt

We are a small family of three and a dog. We have a 2019 Chevrolet Volt with 45,000 km. She is fully paid. Concerned about our finances and considering the current market, we are considering selling our beloved car for another five-door. Our use would essentially be limited to visiting grandparents, exiled in the countryside. We consider a Toyota Corolla HB or an Elantra GT (both 2018), but are also tempted by the 2023 Kia Rio for the peace of mind of new with warranty. Is it a bad idea to change?

Simon St-G.

And why not keep your beloved Volt and offer yourself a short-term rental (for example from Avis, Tilden or even Communauto) to visit the grandparents? Much more economical and a good gesture for the environment.

Interest in hybrid vehicles

Not all hybrid models are rechargeable.

In three years, I will get a new vehicle. I am looking for another gasoline vehicle or a hybrid model. Will the supply of hybrid vehicles decrease by then, given the growing supply of electric vehicles?

Yves P.

Until the automotive industry completes its transition to all-electric, the proportion of hybrid vehicles will increase to meet the constraints set by the authorities. That said, that does not mean that these hybrids will all be rechargeable.
