Miami Open | Alcaraz rushes to the semi-finals

(Miami) The world No.1 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz swept 6-4, 6-2 the American Taylor Fritz (10e), Thursday, joining with authority the semi-finals of the Miami omnium, where the Italian Jannik Sinner (11e).

Almost two weeks after his triumph in Indian Wells, the 19-year-old Spaniard is continuing his merry way unmolested in Florida, where he is in search of the “Sunshine Double”, a double in the same year that seven players achieved before him (Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic).

Facing Fritz, whom he faced for the first time, Alcaraz proved intractable, converting three of the five break points he got, while erasing the two chances of the American.

A formidable efficiency, coupled with a combativeness at all times, to see him send back all possible cinder blocks, at the cost of races and discouraging defenses for his opponent.

He will try to glean an 11e victory in a row, Friday against Sinner, finalist of the event in 2019 and who will try to take revenge after the semi-final lost in Indian Wells.
