Nestlé has decided to permanently close the site, a huge shock for the 140 employees of the factory. “We are disappointed, we are in shock, we don’t know what our future will be like now, it’s sad, it’s a waste”laments Didier Fontaine, an employee.
The Minister of Industry expected on site
The final closure comes after the factory was implicated in the contaminated pizza scandal. In February 2022, frozen pizza Buitoni are accused of causing the death of two children and intoxicated dozens of people with the bacterium E.coli. Shut down for nine months, when it reopened, sales were in free fall. The Minister of Industry is expected Friday on the spot. He must meet with employees and local elected officials.
