The website of the National Assembly is working normally again, Monday, March 27 at the end of the afternoon, after several hours of breakdown linked to a cyberattack. The institution’s services confirmed to franceinfo in the middle of the afternoon that they were doing “faced with an excess of requests which paralyzes the site”.

The Palais-Bourbon site redirected to a fixed page displaying the message “504 portal expired” or “site currently under maintenance”. But only the website was affected, learned franceinfo from a parliamentary source. The common server continued to function normally and the parliamentary assistants had good access to their emails and their working documents.

A claimed cyberattack

At the same time, the group of pro-Russian hackers NoName057(16) claimed responsibility for this cyberattack on Telegram, presented as a response to France’s support for Ukraine, spotted the specialized site Numerama. Faithful to the rhetoric of the Kremlin, the hackers evoke there the support of Paris to the “Ukrainian Neo-Nazis” and the “protests” against Emmanuel Macron in France.

An investigation was opened Monday afternoon for “obstructing the operation of an automated data processing system” after the cyberattack on the site of the National Assembly, learned franceinfo from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

The prosecution confirms that “the websites of the National Assembly, the Senate and the Children’s Parliament were attacked” since Monday morning.
