postponed trial and pre-trial detention for migrant smuggler arrested in Ecot

The migrant smuggler arrested last week in Ecot remains in prison. He was tried this afternoon by the Montbéliard court, which gave him time to prepare his defense, in pre-trial detention. This 34-year-old Pakistani was arrested on Friday on the A36, with 20 people in his truck, from India and Pakistan.

He was traveling to Paris from Italy and already been sentenced to 4 months in prison for similar facts, namely “aid for the entry, movement or illegal stay of a foreigner in France or in the Schengen area having the effect of subjecting him to conditions incompatible with human dignity”, two years ago. He was banned from traveling to France for 10 years. The 20 people on board the truck were ordered to leave French territory
