The representatives of the Caribbean island were no match for the maple leaf, which was playing its first game since the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Let’s say that the red card by accumulation which defender Jurien Gaari received in the 37th minute did not help.

Jonathan David had given Canada the lead a quarter of an hour earlier. Taking advantage of the power play, Cyle Larin doubled the lead just before intermission.

Besides Kamal Miller, no other CF Montreal player was invited by coach John Herdman during this international break. The defender was not in the group of 18 against Curaçao.

Quebecer Ismaël Koné started the game in midfield and gave way to Mark-Anthony Kaye in the 70th minute.

Canada will play its fourth and final match of the group stage against Honduras on Tuesday. Both countries have the same number of points, six, but the men in red and white have the better goal differential (+5).
