Two men were arrested on Tuesday during a major operation by the Service de police de Laval (SPL) in connection with drug offences.
During this operation, two searches were respectively carried out on the North Shore and in Montérégie, leading to the seizure of several firearms as well as a large quantity of drugs.
The Organized Crime Division, assisted by several SPL squads, also participated in this intervention.
In December 2022, investigators from the Organized Crime Squad began an investigation into the sale of narcotics. Information made it possible to target two individuals operating on the North Shore as well as on Laval territory. At the end of this investigation, arrest and search warrants were obtained for two residences and a vehicle. These large-scale operations that took place in Saint-Hyacinthe and Bois-des-Fillion required the assistance of several SPL squads.
Several counts
Alexandre Duval, 31, faces charges of drug trafficking, possession of weapons and concealment. Simon Mathieu Therrien-Guay, 27, is facing charges of simple possession of narcotics and breach of conditions. Both suspects remain in custody following their arrests.
This operation is part of the Laval strategy against the phenomenon of urban violence linked to firearms, which includes a series of concerted and coordinated actions aimed at maintaining public order and enhancing the feeling of safety of Laval residents. These efforts are consistent with the Quebec strategy to fight against armed violence CENTAURE, which has the mandate to ensure pressure on organized crime and fight against the trafficking of illegal firearms in Quebec.
