At least 21 people perished in powerful thunderstorms and at least one tornado crossed the Mississippi Friday night, causing major damage.
Roofs were torn from houses, entire towns were left without power in this other episode which shows the real impact of climate change in the United States.
Residents of Silver City and those of Rolling Fork describe how the storms have had a damaging effect on their town. In the latter, a witness maintained that she now looked “erased”.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Brandy Showah told CNN. “[Rolling Fork] was a beautiful little town, and now it’s gone.”
In addition to houses, buildings were also destroyed, in addition to trees and power lines that were knocked down.
The bodies were mostly found in houses, but also on roads and streets in heavily damaged municipalities.
Relief was struggling to get around to help the victims because of the debris blocking the streets.
