[Critique] “We are going to save what remains”, Pasteur Papillon

Stéphane Papillon has come a long way. The unrepentant rocker, member of the group Drugs, survived a stroke and a heart attack. “The butterfly forages / Maybe even a little too much / In my naughty songs / I left my brain”, he admits on the title track of this album in the form of a health check-up. The veteran measures in his songs what remains of the candle after having lit both ends and realizes the value of the time he has left: “I’m going to leave the city / Make a quiet life for myself / One last round of bécyk / The wind in’ face / Happiness in the cass “, he proclaims on do it my way. Miraculous album of a miraculous: Papillon writes here the most sincere and urgent rhymes of his career, which he camps in rock songs with honky-tonk and country tones. Pasteur entrusted the production to friend Tommy Stinson, founding member of the legendary American alt-rock group The Replacements. He also knows a lot about the excessive rock’n’roll existence; these two understand each other, you can hear it on the album, for our greatest pleasure.
