He is a legend in the history of rock and the punk movement, the Stranglers, 47 years of concerts, hits, escapades. They are on the road to defend their latest album on a European tour. Stopover this Tuesday December 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the Carrière in Saint-Herblain.
After more than 40 years of existence, provocateurs The Stranglers are releasing their 18th album.
It is difficult to qualify the music of the English “Etrangleurs” (with the French JJ Burnel); punk, even progressive rock at their beginnings, they also crossed the time of the New Wave but never stopped their career in spite of some changes of line up.
The group will be on a European tour this fall and will pass through France for seven dates to present the titles of Dark matter , 11 tracks recorded in two years at the group’s Somerset HQ. The album was completed this spring with Louie Nicastro in charge.
Also released an exclusive bonus CD entitled “Dave Greenfield-A Tribute” including 8 unreleased live recordings, selected by the band members in order to celebrate the unique and talented keyboardist who died last year. It includes two of the album’s new clips performed with Dave, live versions of four Stranglers songs with his vocals, and one of the band’s last recordings on their 2019 Japanese tour.
The first single from the moving tribute album “And If You Should See Dave” was released last May, followed by the punchy track “This song” where the hero is football star Stuart Pearce.
The album enters 3rd on the English charts, a first since 1978. Good news never comes alone, other excellent ones are coming soon, stay tune.
