“Guess when I’m calling you?”, A children’s novel about prehistory

In Périgord, there are many prehistoric sites where archaeologists and even individuals have found prehistoric objects. Pauline and Nadia Coste, co-authors of this book, were particularly inspired by the universe of the Castel Merle site to set the scene for this novel.

But before plunging into this prehistoric universe, they take us to 2037, a year when phones will have a new option: that of teleportation. In space, but also, with a few manipulations, in time. Jules is 15 years old, he has an archaeologist sister, and he wants to impress her by taking her directly to the place and time that interests him for his research. That’s when Jules will find himself stuck in the middle of prehistory!

Imagine getting stuck at this time … you probably have a lot of misconceptions about it. But Jules is going to feel pretty good there. They are humans like any other who, in many ways, are even more pleasant than contemporaries! Pauline and Nadia Coste obviously based themselves on known archaeological facts to relate the spirit of this tribe, precisely to combat the received ideas about this period.

If you want to discover the book in a different way, meet on December 19 at the National Museum of Prehistory of Les Eyzies for two reading tours, at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. It will be a stroll through the museum, with extracts from the book. An ideal family outing, with the added bonus of Pauline Coste signing sessions between the two visits. The children will also leave with a little souvenir! Reservations recommended on the Museum website.
