From energy sobriety to water savings. The administration wants to reduce its water consumption by 10% in the coming months, said Thursday, March 23 the Minister of Public Service, Stanislas Guerini. “We must open a sobriety plan on the water” as the State has done since the fall of 2022 on the consumption of gas and electricity, affirmed the minister in front of more than a hundred executives of the administration gathered in Paris for the last day of their training in the ecological transition .

“The challenge is to quickly reduce our water consumption by 10%”, added Stanislas Guerini, then specifying that this ambition was part of a broader “water plan”, expected for several weeks from the government.

According to the Minister, water consumption reached 22 million cubic meters in 2019 in the State civil service, and it is therefore more than 2 million m3 consumed that the administration is encouraged to eliminate. Of the 190,000 buildings in the State’s housing stock, 2,000 have been identified as “the biggest sources of savings” of water, due to their high consumption.
