For the deputy Renaissance Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, “the speech of the Head of State is expected” Wednesday March 22 “because the country has experienced a political debate” on the pension reform “extremely animated, agitated, where we saw the National Assembly in turmoil as we had not seen it for a very long time and numerous demonstrations in the country”.

“It is important that the Head of State can give the meaning of the reform, explain why it was important and necessary and why we had it adopted.”

Still according to the President of the European Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, this reform was adopted in a democratic way: “We have debated more on this pension reform than on any other pension reform. It was adopted in the Senate, then the Joint Joint Commission and then the Prime Minister engaged the responsibility of her government and the National Assembly did not wish to censor it, so the text was adopted in a democratic manner and in compliance with the Constitution.”

“We can’t have opposition parties that constantly shirk their responsibilities”

He recalls that Renaissance is in a position, in the National Assembly, to “relative majority”which means that “We do not have an absolute majority on our own. That gives a particular responsibility to the oppositions. We cannot expect everything from the majority and have oppositions that constantly flee their responsibilities”. Invited Tuesday evening by Emmanuel Macron – who receives all the deputies of the majority – he answers: “I think it is extremely important that the President of the Republic can consult. We are getting out of the parliamentary sequence.”

“The Head of State is often criticized for not consulting, to come and do the opposite to him when he receives the parliamentarians, the institutional leaders of this country, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Senate and this Tuesday evening the deputies of the majority.”

Asked about the spontaneous demonstrations that have been taking place everywhere in France since last Thursday, the deputy declared: “What I have been observing for several days is rather the coalition of ultra-left thugs, anarchists, who have decided to create a mess in Paris and in certain towns in France. It is not the peaceful and legitimate demonstrations that I have attended for several weeks.”
