Linus Ullmark stopped 40 shots, Jake DeBrusk scored the game-winning goal and the Boston Bruins beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on Tuesday.
David Krejci added a power-play goal for the Bruins, who have won their last four games.
Dylan Gambrell scored for the Senators. Mads Sogaard blocked 33 shots.
The Bruins thus signed their 54e win of the season and with 12 games remaining, they’re on course to beat the 62-game mark the Red Wings set in 1995-96 before the Lightning tied it in 2018-19.
Ullmark improved to 35-5-1.
DeBrusk completed a fine play by Brad Marchand, grabbing a rebound to beat Sogaard 15:52 into the first period. His net was his 23e of the season.
Gambrell scored around the net to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.

Buffalo Sabers crushed 7-3 against Nashville Predators

Luke Evangelista scored twice in 39 seconds and the Nashville Predators beat the Buffalo Sabers 7-3 on Tuesday night.
Matt Duchene also scored twice, including one in an empty net, to give him 21 goals this season. Tommy Novak, Philip Tomasino and Ryan McDonagh each had a goal and an assist.
Juuse Saros stopped 28 shots and even had an assist, beating the Sabers for the first time in seven career starts.
The win kept the Predators in contention for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Predators started the day in 10e position, five points behind the eighth-placed Winnipeg Jets.
Tage Thompson scored his 43e goal of the season, his first in nine games, as Jeff Skinner and Dylan Cozens also scored for the Sabres. Thompson equaled the team record, held by Vanek in 2006-07.
Rasmus Dahlin added an assist on Thompson’s goal, becoming the third Sabers defenseman to reach 50 assists, and the first since Phil Housley (60) in 1989-90.

Blue Jackets win in overtime against Capitals

Boone Jenner tied the game with 46.9 seconds left in the third period, Jack Roslovic scored the game-winning goal in overtime and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Washington Capitals 7-6 on Tuesday night.
The Blue Jackets snapped a three-game losing streak and dealt a blow to the Capitals in their quest to qualify for the playoffs. The Capitals are five points from second and last place giving access to the spring ball, with 10 games to play.
In his second straight start, Charlie Lindgren allowed seven goals on 39 shots. The Capitals lost a 3-0 lead.
Minutes after a pre-match ceremony honoring Alexander Ovechkin’s second-most goals in league history, he scored his 40e goal of the season. The Russian has now scored 40 goals in a season 13 times, a league record, and surpasses Wayne Gretzky.
Nick Jensen scored twice and TJ Oshie, Conor Sheary and Sonny Milano also scored for the Capitals.
Adam Boqvist scored twice for the Blue Jackets and Eric Robinson, Emil Bemstrom and Jenner also hit the mark. Daniil Tarasov stopped 31 shots.
