Rapper Bad Bunny is sued for 40 million by his ex-girlfriend

(Miami) An ex-girlfriend of Bad Bunny has filed a complaint against the Puerto Rican rapper claiming 40 million dollars from him for having used his voice without his authorization in several of his titles, according to several media.

Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez, who was in a relationship with the rap star from 2011 to 2016, filed a complaint in early March in a court in San Juan, capital of Puerto Rico, the NotiCel site reported on Monday.

In 2015, when Bad Bunny was not yet the prince of reggaeton he is today, the young woman said she recorded herself on her phone saying the phrase “Bad Bunny Baby”, according to the court document.

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Martínez Ocasio, later used this recording, without permission, at the beginning of the song, Pa Tiand a few years later on the title Back Mil 16 from his album A Verano Sin TiGrammy Award-winning.

For this last opus, the artist’s team would have sent contracts asking for the consent of Mme De La Cruz Hernandez, a day before the release of the album in May 2022, but would not have waited to receive a response before adding the voice of the young woman on the title, according to the same source.

Since the release of the track, “thousands of people have made comments on Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez’s social networks, which has caused and continues to cause him “concern, anguish, a feelings of intimidation, overwhelm and anxiety,” according to the complaint.
