“Gérald Darmanin practices intoxication, the number of requisitioned agents is very small”, assures the CGT

“A few dozen garbage collectors have perhaps been requisitioned and a few dozen trucks are circulating in Paris, at the most”estimates Baptiste Talbot, CGT Public Service coordinator, Saturday March 18 on franceinfo, while the Paris police headquarters shares videos on Twitter showing the trucks restarting at the Ivry-sur-Seine collection center.

Since the start of the garbage collectors’ strike against the pension reform, 10,000 tonnes of waste have accumulated in the streets of the capital and the Minister of the Interior signed the requisition of the agents of the city of Paris on Thursday evening. But the trade unionist assures us that “Gérald Darmanin practices intoxication, the number of agents requisitioned is very small.”

Baptiste Talbot explains that requisitions are “complicated” because they must be notified individually and to “every service outlet”. “The authorities have also chosen not to notify the agents at their homes, but at the workplace”specifies the CGT Public Service coordinator.

“We assume that we must harden the movement”

“There is the question of collection but also that of incineration”he continues, recalling that the employees of the Ivry-sur-Seine incinerator [en Ile-de-France] in particular are still on strike. “The garbage strike is far from over”predicts Baptiste Talbot, before listing all the cities mobilized: Le Havre, Saint-Brieuc, Nantes or even Angers. “It will start in Orléans next week”he assures. “There are also treatment centers or incinerators which are blocked, for example in Fos-sur-Mer or Châtellerault” and the strike “continue at Pizzorno in Vitry-sur-Seine”.
