Jean Pascal looked like a devastated man after his defeat yesterday at Place Bell. He couldn’t believe that the judges offered the victory on a silver platter to Michael Eifert.

“It’s not the decision we wanted. I think I gave a good performance. I was not really in danger in this fight. It’s not him anymore [Eifert] who was most often in danger. I let him hit whenever I wanted. It was I who put the pressure on him,” commented Pascal, admitting to having fallen out of his chair while waiting for the scores of 118-110, 115-113 and 117-111.
“I would have won only two rounds? When it was I who made the best attacks, it was I who was aggressive?
His trainer Orlando Cuellar was not kind to the three judges, judging that his colt had been stolen.
“Eifert’s blows came on Pascal’s gloves. He wasn’t specific. Pascal fired the best shots, the most powerful. Pascal concluded the rounds in force, launched Cuellar. […] I do think it’s an honest decision. Pascal was more explosive. The judges have fallen asleep.”
However, several experts and journalists gave the young German of 25 years victorious.
Two visions
In the clan of Eifert, there was no doubt about the identity of the winner.
“I clearly won the fight, calmly replied Eifert. I even almost knocked him down a few times. Jean Pascal may have won two rounds.
“It’s not common in boxing to see the local boxer lose, but that has to change and today [hier]Canada and the judges proved that it was possible”, praised the promoter Benedict Poelchau.
