In the midst of the crisis that is shaking junior hockey in the country, the testimony of a former player, Stephen Quirk, had particularly significant repercussions in Quebec. The account of the abuse he says he suffered during his initiations embarrassed the commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), Gilles Courteau, which led to his resignation. We return to the recent social and political awakening to the regulation of amateur sport, and we examine the very different echoes of this history in Ontario.
