Star journalist Patrick Lagacé will succeed Paul Arcand at the helm of the 98.5 morning show. He will take office from the fall of 2024.
The announcement was made Wednesday morning during the broadcast Since you have to get up, confirming the persistent rumors of the last few weeks. Paul Arcand, 62, had already announced last June that he was not going to renew his contract, which ends in 2024.
Nicknamed the “king of the airwaves”, he has been at the top of the ratings in the greater Montreal area for twenty years, first on the CKAC station on the AM band, then since 2004, at 98.5 .
Building on the success of its morning show, the Cogeco group station remains by far the most listened to radio station in the metropolitan area. An immutable reality which was further confirmed in the latest data from the firm Numeris published last week.
Patrick Lagacé joined 98.5 in 2019, where he has been hosting since the return show, Quebec now. Highly publicized, sometimes controversial personality, he still writes a column in The Press and since 2013 has co-hosted the talk show two golden men on Télé-Québec.
