Sabers defeat Maple Leafs

(Toronto) Alex Tuch scored twice on his return as the Sabers rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Monday night.


Jack Quinn and Dylan Cozens also scored for the Sabers, who saw Craig Anderson save 25 pucks.

Owen Power and JJ Peterka both had two assists for the Buffalo squad. Cozens assisted on Tuch’s second goal.

Auston Matthews, with a goal and two assists, William Nylander and Calle Jarnkrok replied for the Torontonians. Matt Murray also blocked 25 shots.

Mitch Marner had two assists for the Maple Leafs, who were outscored 4-0 in goals and 23-7 in shots after taking a 2-0 lead in the second period.

The Sabers started the night with a 1-5-1 record in their last seven games. They’re trying to end an 11-season streak without making the playoffs, which is an NHL record.
