It all started when the victim, a 25-year-old man, called the police to say he had just been attacked at his home on rue Galt Ouest.
When the police arrived, they found that the man had been hit on the head with a blunt object, said Benoit Pellerin, spokesperson for the Sherbrooke police. His injuries required hospitalization, but were not life threatening.
Despite this, the victim was able to provide investigators with a good description of his assailants, as well as their vehicle.
Just 90 minutes later, patrol officers spotted the suspect vehicle outside a bar on Wellington Street South, downtown. An operation was thus launched to apprehend the suspects.
Two men aged 24 and 28 known to the police were arrested and will face charges of assault with a weapon. An 18-year-old woman, meanwhile, was released on a promise to appear.
The reasons that would have prompted the three individuals to attack the victim have not been specified.
