Incredible story of courage. A young woman who was disfigured by two dogs that inflicted 800 bites reveals her new face after 18 operations.
Jacqueline Durand will never forget the day before her 22nd birthday in December 2021.
The first time she had met the two dogs she had to keep, Lucy, a German shepherd and Bender, a pit bull mixed with a boxer, they had seemed nice to her.
However, when the young woman crossed the threshold of the couple’s house where she was to take care of Lucy and Bender, the two mastiffs threw themselves on her.
The police discovered Jacqueline because an alarm went off due to the front door of the home being left open. The attack lasted more than 30 minutes because the dogs were so aggressive they posed too much of a risk to police officers.
“When I felt the skin on my face hanging down, I thought I was going to die,” said the young woman.
Jacqueline was mutilated and bitten over 800 times. The rabid dogs ripped off his nose, ears, lips and cheeks. She was bitten to the bone. His body also bears numerous bite marks.
Jacqueline’s parents said she had to be resuscitated several times on the operating table and was placed in a coma for a week.
The young American has had to undergo numerous facial reconstruction surgeries since the attack. Jacqueline was discharged from the hospital two months after being admitted there.
Three and a half months ago, she was on her 18th surgery.
She shares her story on social media. Some 104,000 people follow her on her courageous journey on Instagram. She wants to inspire people and make them aware of the dangers of dogs.
