Kim Clavel will begin her quest for a second world title on April 28 at Place Bell.
This was confirmed on Wednesday by its promoter, Yvon Michel. His opponent will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
Clavel (16-1, 3 K. -O.) has recently resumed training for this next confrontation. She delivered her last fight against Yesica Nery Plata last January. She lost by unanimous decision in a unification bout for the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight titles.
The 32-year-old Quebecer was then trying to defend her WBC belt for the third time, won by unanimous decision on August 28, 2021 against Maria Soledad Vargas, at the IGA stadium.
Belt for Germain?
In addition, the Montreal promoter indicated that the Intercontinental title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) of the welterweight would be at stake when Mathieu Germain will face Steven Wilcox, on March 16, in the semi-finals of the elimination shock of the IBF light heavyweight between Jean Pascal and the German Michael Eifert.
Germain (21-2-1, 9 K. -O.) and Wilcox (24-3-1, 7 K. -O.) will therefore have the chance to get their hands on this vacant title which opens the door to the top 10 global sanctioning body. Neither boxer currently appears among the top 15 contenders for the title held by Puerto Rican Subriel Matias.
The gala on March 16 should offer seven fights.
The end of March will be auspicious for Quebec boxing, as on March 18, New Era Promotions presents a card in Châteauguay featuring heavyweight Alexis Barrière (8-0, 7 KOs).
Five days later, it will be the turn of Eye of the Tiger Management to occupy the Casino de Montreal with the clash of super middleweight Christian Mbilli (23-0, 20 KOs) and the Ecuadorian Carlos Gongora (21-1, 16 KOs).
