Modulate municipal taxes according to the place of work

A solution to traffic congestion among others to reduce our GHGs and to promote the return of families to Montreal.

These are just suggestions for moving the democratic conversation forward.

The starting point, the current amount of municipal taxes in Montreal.

This amount would be reduced by 50% for those who live in Montreal and who can demonstrate that they have held a full-time job for at least one year at a distance of less than 15 minutes on foot.

Reduced by 25% for those who take public transport to get to work.

The amount of municipal taxes remains the same for those who work in Montreal, live in Montreal and own an automobile.

It is increased by 25% for those who go to work on the island of Montreal by car, or the reverse, who live in Montreal and work in the suburbs;

25% more also for those who own buildings and who do not live on the island, but elsewhere in Quebec.

50% increase for foreign owners.

Give an equivalent discount to tenants.

In short, to facilitate the reduction of distances between the place of work and residence, to reduce urban sprawl, to recognize that the abolition of tolls in 1982 was a mistake favoring sprawl and that it should return to finance transport by commmon.

Finally, small solutions to move the debate forward.
