Lake Louise Super-G | Marie-Michèle Gagnon ranks 9th again

For the second day in a row, Marie-Michèle Gagnon finished 9e at the World Cup in Lake Louise, Alta. After the women’s downhill on Saturday, the Quebecer found herself among the top 10 of the first super-G of the season.

Gagnon clocked the best Canadian result with a time of 1 min 19.31 s, falling 1.03 s behind gold medalist Sofia Goggia of Italy.

“I’m happy with my day,” Gagnon told Alpine Skiing Canada. I really had more of an aggressive attitude today [dimanche], but unfortunately I still made too many mistakes for a podium. This weekend is a good base to build on for the rest of the season, and it was especially nice to run in front of a local crowd and hear everyone cheering us on! ”

With this victory, Goggia confirmed his sweep after winning both downhill events at Lake Louise. She becomes only the third skier to achieve this feat in the same World Cup, after the American Lindsey Vonn and the German Katja Seizinger.

Sofia Goggia joined American Lindsey Vonn and German Katja Seizinger in the exclusive group of skiers who won both downhills and the super-G in a single World Cup in Lake Louise.

Goggia edged the Swiss Lara Gut-Bahrami, reigning world champion in this event, by just 0.11s. Austrian Mirjam Pushner (+ 0.44 s) received bronze.

The next Super-G World Cup is scheduled for December 11-12 in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
