The Minister of Labor assures on franceinfo that there is “neither lie, nor inflation” of the government on retirement pensions, within the framework of the debate on the reform of pensions.

There has been “no lie, no bloat” from the government about the promise of a minimum pension of 1,200 euros for the poorest retirees, said Monday the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, on franceinfo, when asked about the pension reform. “You have to accept that things are complex”, he defended himself.

Last week, the minister admitted that 20,000 new pensioners at best would reach a minimum pension of 1,200 euros with the pension reform, half the number brandished in mid-February by the same minister.

The Minister of Labor “holds all digits”

“I stand by all the numbers I said”hammered Olivier Dussopt who claims not to have “Never” lied about those numbers. “We have always said that the pension at 1,200 euros was for a full career at minimum wage and full time”, he said. The Minister then detailed that “out of the 17 million French retirees, thanks to this minimum guarantee, 1.8 million current retirees will have a revaluation in September, and half will have a revaluation between 70 and 100 euros gross per month”.

Olivier Dussopt then indicated that “Thanks to this reform, 200,000 new retirees per year, out of 800,000, will have a larger pension, a better retirement than without the reform, between 25 and 100 euros per month”.
