Alpine Skiing World Cup | Marco Odermatt crowned super-G king in Aspen

(Aspen) Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt secured another super-G crown, winning Sunday’s race in Aspen.

Odermatt has been dominant all season in the super-G, winning five of seven World Cup events. He was on the podium in the other two races.

The 25-year-old skier posted a time of 1 minute 6.80 seconds on Sunday. Odermatt was thus ahead of the German Andreas Sander by five hundredths of a second. The Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde completed the podium, he who won the crystal globe in the downhill on Saturday.

Riley Seger was the top Canadian with a 10^e place. Fellow countryman James Crawford took 12^e rank after winning silver in the downhill on Saturday.

Jeffrey Read finished in 21^e position, 10 rows ahead of Broderick Thompson. Kyle Alexander was unable to make it to the finish.

Thanks to his victory, Odermatt also approached a second consecutive title in the general classification.

Sixth skier to start, Odermatt gave the impression that the raised course was easy. He became the first skier to win at least five super-G races in the same season on the World Cup circuit.

“I can say it’s been a perfect super-G season from race one to here,” said Odermatt.

Sander stepped on a World Cup podium for the first time in his career. However, he took second place in the downhill at the world championships in 2021.
