Advance voting in the riding of Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne began on Sunday. Eleven candidates will try to succeed the former liberal leader Dominique Anglade.
Voters will be able to vote in advance on Sunday and Monday. Polling stations are open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The locations for advance voting can be found on the registration notice they received in the mail.
Eleven candidates have officially registered for the by-election in the Montreal riding of Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne, which will be held on March 13. That’s three more candidates than in the 2022 general election.
Mme Anglade had won the constituency in September 2022 by obtaining 36.2% of the vote. She was then ahead of the solidarity Guillaume Cliche-Rivard, who is running again, by 2736 votes.
The constituency, which has 57,325 voters, has always elected a Liberal MP since its creation in 1994.
The four parties represented in the National Assembly will be present on the ballot papers. Candidates from six other parties, including the Conservative Party of Quebec, the Green Party and Climat-Québec, will try to cause surprise. An independent candidate is also in the running.
Élections Québec reminds that in all advance polling places, children will be able to vote at the small polling station, where they will be invited to answer the question: “What is most important to you?” “. Four choices will be offered to them, either to help others, to make you respect, to express your ideas or to be different.
