American actor Tom Sizemore, known for his role in the feature film We have to save the soldier Ryan, died at 61, his agent announced on Friday March 3. He “passed away peacefully in his sleep at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank”California, said a statement. “His brother Paul and his children Jayden and Jagger (…) were at his side”.
The comedian suffered a brain aneurysm in February and the maintenance of his vital functions ended on Friday. A few days earlier, doctors had concluded that nothing more could be done for him, according to his manager.
“We must save Private Ryan”, his flagship role
During his career, the comedian has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. His flagship role was undoubtedly that of an American soldier during the Second World War, interpreted in the film “Saving Private Ryan”, directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1998.
This feature film had been nominated for the Oscar for best picture and its actors, including Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, had also been nominated for their joint performance as Best Distribution by the Screen Actors Guild.
“Born Killers”, “True Romance” and “Heat”
The actor also performed other roles in cult films of the 1990s such as born killers, true romance or Heat. He has notably worked with the famous directors Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, Michael Bay and Michael Mann. Arrested multiple times in the 2000s for possession of drugs, he had also been arrested for domestic violence on several of his companions.
