In France, the law provides for at least three sex education classes each year for students from primary to secondary. However, it is not always respected. The journalist and doctor Damien Mascretpresent on the set of 19/20, Thursday February 2, explains that France can do better. “We cannot simply be satisfied with the health aspects, obviously contraception and protection against sexually transmitted infections”he believes.

Giving guidance to young people

Beyond the health aspect, Damien Mascret believes that sex education courses should also provide young people with guidance. “The misconceptions of porn are spreading among young people, and among adults for that matter (…), so we must remember respect and consent. A consent that must be free, informed, enthusiastic, continuous and also reversible. We can stop if we don’t want to anymore”concludes Damien Mascret.
