A member of the CAQ targeted by a police investigation

The CAQ MP for Laviolette — Saint-Maurice, Marie-Louise Tardif, is the subject of a police investigation after allegedly threatening and intimidating a former employee.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed Thursday that its major crimes division had opened an investigation following an incident at the Trois-Rivières courthouse last Friday.

According to the daily Le NouvellisteMs. Tardif was in court because her former county office manager is claiming $15,000 from her following her dismissal, which he considers unjustified.

In particular, the MP would have told another ex-employee who came to testify in this case that she was going to “embark on [s]we case”.

“Are there any criminal allegations or does it affect civil law? The investigation will make it possible to verify this, ”said SQ sergeant Éloïse Cossette on Thursday.

It is important to note that Ms. Tardif was not arrested and no charges were brought against her.

For its part, the Coalition avenir Québec indicates that it has called the MP for a meeting.

“The Chief Government Whip, Éric Lefebvre, will meet Marie-Louise Tardif to hear her point of view,” said the director of communications for the whip’s office, Marc Danis.
