Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard, the winning tandem of the Opéra de Montréal

A season later The beauty of the worldthe duo uniting the composer Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard will be reunited for a creation during the next season of the Opéra de Montréal (OdM) with The Queen-boyadaptation of the play Christine, the queen-boy of the Quebec playwright. The premiere will take place on February 3, 2024 during a show co-produced by the Canadian Opera Company and directed by Jean-Marie Zeitouni.

This show is not the only contemporary opera of the season announced on Thursday March 2, since Enigma by Patrick Burgan inspired by Enigmatic variations by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt will be presented at the Théâtre Maisonneuve in April in co-production with the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz. In addition to the Théâtre Maisonneuve, the OdM will also take over the Salle Pierre-Mercure in November for two performances of Coronation of Poppea, entrusted to Nicolas Ellis. Nicolas Ellis will also direct the season opener, The Marriage of Figaro a Kansas City, Philadelphia, San Diego and Palm Beach production, with Hugo Laporte as Count Almaviva and Leon Kosavic as Figaro.

Finally, La Traviata according to Alain Gauthier (a dramaturgical reading inspired by the story of Joséphine Baker), which had borne the brunt of the pandemic, is now scheduled for May 2024, this time not with Marie-Josée Lord in the main role, but with Talise Trevigne, American singer accustomed to the role.
